London

With no essays due for an entire week, I opted to journey to London. And the six days I spent there were awesome.
For the first two days I stayed at a family friend's house, right in the heart of the city. They fed me, introduced me to vintage wine, gave me a comfy bed, and keys to the house. I spent the days exploring the city, its museums and parks. In between all of that and after procuring a travel visa from the Norwegian embassy, I met up with Emma, a Camp Chi friend, for lunch. Friday night dinner at the house was really fun. There were loads of interesting guests like opera singers, entrepreneurs, bidding directors, and pioneering engineers. After lots of good food and good wine, I said goodbye in order to begin the second leg of the journey (a.k.a. the boys from Fratty in London).
I met up with the Kappa Sigs at their apartment, just off the Farringdon Tube stop. We said our hellos, caught-up a little, and then got hammered. And so began a four-day hangover incident. On Friday night we went to a club called Egg. The Wash U contingent was large, guaranteeing a good time. The DJ was good but the lights and smoke machines were better. Half the night I couldn't see my hand in front of my face.
After a brief recovery on Saturday morning, we began an all day Fratty in London pub crawl around the famous Circle Line underground route. There's never a shortage of pubs at any single train stop anywhere in London. I drunkenly saw Big Ben, some famous cathedrals, a big blue ferris wheel, some cool bridges crossing the Thames, and many a pub bathroom. We got back to the apartment in the late afternoon, took our naps, and began preparations for another great night out. Later that night I went to bed looking forward to Church in the morning.
Now the Church I'm thinking about and the one you're thinking about are probably two different stories.
Let me relay what happened in bullet point format:

  • Wake up, eat sandwich
  • Get dressed in ridiculous attire (see below)
  • Everyone comes over, blasting music
  • Spend 45 minutes on trains and buses, looking peculiar, in an attempt to find the Church
  • Arrive at Church, buy a bag of beers, join the mass crowd on the dance floor
  • Push our way to the front of the stage
  • Lots of crazy costumes everywhere and american music (no techno)
  • Lots of shouting "USA USA USA"
  • Antics on stage
  • Dancing
  • Drinking contests on stage
  • More antics
  • Dancing
  • Drunkenly finding our way home and wondering where in the world BBFND could be (because I was holding onto his phone and his wallet)
  • Arriving home and having one of the worst hangovers of my life
  • Staying an extra night to recover
  • Taking the bus back to Oxford
  • Writing another essay at the library
  • The End
